Hydroelectric Project in Kinnaur District in Himachal Pradesh

The Government of India and the Government of Himachal Pradesh (GOHP) have identified the Sutlej River as an important source of hydropower and have initiated hydroelectric projects along Sutlej and its tributaries. The Sutlej River rises in the Tibetan Plateau, passes via steep valleys and gorges through the Himalayan Mountains and foothills and meets the Arabian Sea across the plains of Northern India and Pakistan.
